The Love Story: Sydney and Jed met over ten years ago while at Northwestern University where they were both studying chemical engineering. Is it too cheesy here if we say that sparks flew? In January 2016, Jed proposed at the Chicago Cultural Center, Sydney’s favorite building in the city. They’ve conquered so many things together – 4 NU degrees, moving to 3 apartments, running 2 marathons, and watching 13 HBO series!
Woodnote Photography beautifully captured their classic and modern day offset with black, white, and metallics. To showcase the modern and gilded style with the florals, we used beautiful combinations that complemented one another. Sydney’s bouquet was a lush, rounded, hand-tied bouquet of a variety of classic blooms of white anemones, classic white roses, textural white miniature garden roses, white stock, dusty miller, and touches of golden seeded eucalyptus. Jed’s boutonniere of a classic white calla lily, finished in ivory silk ribbon complemented Sydney’s bouquet and well as his midnight blue suit with a black lapel.
For their ceremony we elevated and repurposed tall centerpieces atop mirrored pedestals. To emphasize the modern palette we also used a black cloth aisle runner for the ceremony and the bride utilized black velvet linens for the reception and gold wide-rimmed chargers as place settings.
The guest table was one long display so we emphasized it with layers of florals, from high to low, embraced by candlelight. We had tall centerpieces of a lush, rounded design of white blooms of hydrangeas, roses, miniature garden roses, foliage of dusty miller, and golden seeded eucalyptus spilling over and reflecting romantic candlelight. And embedded within the tall designs, were low lush arrangements with soft sprawling foliage of coordinating wedding blooms arranged in a gold footed vase surrounded by candles.
Thank you to Sydney and Jed for having us “floralize” your beautiful day. It truly is an honor to have worked with such an amazing couple. Wishing you a million years of happiness!
