This wedding is very near and dear to our hearts as we’ve had the honor of creating floral magic for both daughters in this special family! When we met with Lauren she didn’t want “typical” wedding flowers. She and her groom, Jon, already had their venue selected and we were so excited to work at 19 East again! It is the perfect mix of modern and urban in the heart of the south loop in Chicago. There are tall ceilings and stunning natural lighting. Lauren and Jon’s artistic wedding style and vision was inspired by Chicago’s prairie off the lakeshore. We utilized modern vessels creating a terrarium like design. Lauren’s amazing dress from Mignonette Bridal was absolute perfection on her and it really set the tone for the vintage nod she was hoping to infuse.
Lauren and Jon’s love story began at a Super Bowl party! Their second date actually took place ON Valentine’s Day in 2013, a total risk for a budding relationship, but one that majorly paid off. In Lauren’s words, “Jon has always pursued me and loved me tremendously.” Doesn’t that sentence just sweep you off your feet? Lauren even said that as a teenager she drew a photo of her “Mr. Right” and wrote a list of all the traits she hoped he would have. She said that Jon encompasses all 20+ traits and she still has that photo!
We loved creating her textured bouquet with a variety of ranunculus, lisianthus, stock, fluffy viburnum, moss-like dianthus, and arching maidenhair ferns ranging from white to cream to muted then vibrant greens to pops of purple. Her bridesmaids wore soft grey cocktail dresses and carried similar bouquets that were accented with succulents.
We set the ceremony by lining the aisles in clear acrylic risers and showcased vignettes of floral and candlelight. The copper arch was dressed in lush greenery and enhanced with pops of floral.
The centerpieces were truly a treat, we really took the inspiration and went all out. Using driftwood, succulents, air plants, mosses, and vines with vignettes of floral, showcased in terrarium like designs or marbled vessels, we really showcased the modern and earthy vibe that Lauren envisioned.
We even went a step above with the table numbers (created for us by Greenstar Paperie), evoking a vintage nod to pressed flowers, with a modern fern and a copper number to really set the table.
Thank you to Lauren and Jon for having us “floralize” your beautiful day. It truly is an honor to have worked with such an amazing couple. Wishing you a million years of happiness!
