Ah, winter weddings, one of my many favorites. I love being able to incorporate the beauty of the season into a wedding. This is the time of year where we can play with winter’s bounty. Pinecones gilded in gold, a variety of evergreens arching here and there, soft creamy florals, and decadent golds were the perfect touch for Kaitlin and James.
To ring in the new year, Kaitlin and James had a romantic and vintage wedding on New Year’s Eve 2015 at The Mid-America Club in Chicago, IL. How amazing is that? And a beautiful way to celebrate your anniversary year after year. The space was still decorated for the holidays with festive white lights and accents of green garland, which the couple wanted to incorporate. Blending in Kaitlin’s floral vision was the cherry on top to this amazing wedding.
The bride had tons of ideas, but was concerned about executing them, which is where we, as floral designers, come in! Kaitlin wanted to stick with upscale greenery, gold accents, and elegant cream florals to showcase a truly classic winter wedding. We chose three designs to fill the space. First, luxuriously tall centerpieces of a soft rounded design filled with arching evergreens, gilded eucalyptus and pine cones, and elegant creamy florals, elevated by an elegant gold stand. Then we had chic candle holders filled with floating candles surrounded by a lush wreath of florals. And finally, a lush compote overflowing with beauty. Against the black linens and the Chicago skyline, this was the perfect New Year’s Eve setting.
Kaitlin’s dress was a show stopper, so to complement the elegance of the lace details, we created a textural bouquet of exquisite anemones, decadent ranunculus, a variety of cream roses, accents of gilded pinecones and seeded eucalyptus, and touches of evergreens. The bridesmaid dresses were stunners, so we went with a simple clutch bouquet, similar to Kaitlin’s bouquet.
Emily Gualdoni did a magnificent job of capturing the beauty of the couple, the day, and the details! Such a magical wedding perfectly captured.
