Company Name: Metts Photo
Service Area: Wedding Photography
Years in Business: 6 years
How Did You Begin Your Career? I helped transition my husband Michael’s Michigan-based photography business to a husband and wife team based in Chicago. It was NOT easy, but I was intentional about making sure we did it right. Our business is founded on relationships. We really take the time to genuinely get to know not just our couples, but everyone we work with. We’ve met some amazing and talented vendors through this journey and it’s due to these relationships that we have gotten to where we are.
What is Your Photography Style? We are storytellers, so our style is photojournalistic and classic. We want to capture the emotions and excitement of our couples’ relationships along with all the little details that went into making their wedding day so meaningful.
Describe Your Ideal Client: I love meeting my clients over coffee, tea, or a glass of Pinot Noir, so if they appreciate a great drink then we will hit it off right away. Our couples really value great photography, and they trust us to capture who they are. It’s really important that the entire day speaks to them as a couple as they enjoy their friends and family, but I believe the marriage commitment itself is the most important part of the day, and so do our couples. We especially want to capture the way these two people come together and express that commitment.
What Makes You Different At What You Do? I know that hiring a photographer is a big decision. They’re going to be documenting the most important day of your life thus far! A wedding day is such an intimate event filled with emotion, so making sure you choose a photographer that truly understands your vision and makes you feel comfortable is key. We take time to get to know our clients over coffee dates, helping them plan their timeline and their engagement session. We also offer full day coverage. We are there the whole day so we can capture everything they want to remember without having to stress about cramming everything into a certain time frame, or having to sacrifice coverage. Because of this, we only book 12 weddings a year. We want each of our couples to get 100% of our energy so they can simply enjoy the day.
What Do You Love Most About Weddings? I love the fact that Michael and I get to work together. We’re spending the day together doing what we love most and serving our couples. I joke that it’s like a date for us because we enjoy it so much.
